Dorchester Youth Winter Guard

is a Massachusetts Non-Profit Corporation. The corporation is organized as an amateur youth winter guard program exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Situated in the Cedar Grove section of Dorchester our mission is to foster positive experiences for all who participate, by promoting education, creativity and freedom of expression. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, sex, religion or where you reside.

Dorchester Youth Winter Guard ranks among the strongest and most successful color guard programs in Massachusetts. Color Guard - known as the “Sport of the Arts” brings music to life through performance in a competitive format. Through their participation in color guard our members learn lessons of cooperation, commitment and respect that are so important for young citizens of today’s world. We expect all of our members to be respectful, honest, and responsible for their own actions.

The program began in the year 2000 with about twenty elementary school aged children primarily from the local Saint Brendan Elementary School. Saint Brendan Color Guard

Junior Program

Our Junior program introduces children from elementary through middle school to the sport. They are taught the basic skills needed to perform and as the year progresses they will tackle more advanced skills appropriate to their abilities. Our emphasis on respect and team work helps our children learn skills that will help them in life.

Advanced Program

Our top level team is a Nationally Ranked guard that competes in the Independent A Class. Our members are not only leaders on the performance floor but also in school and the community. This program helps instill each member with the skills of responsibility, leadership and commitment.
